Sample Spanish Portfolio

Evidence of your learning towards meeting standard in Writing, Reading & Listening, Speaking, and Culture

You will be graded on completing all sections of this project and how honest and reflective you are. It doesn't matter if you aren't meeting standard in the 4 areas, but rather that you reflect on your struggles and accomplishments and learn about yourself as a student.

Introducción

In this section you should simply introduce yourself!  What's your name?  Where are you from?  How old are you?  Do this in Spanish in one paragraph.

In a second paragraph in English, describe how you have done in Spanish 1 (A/B).  What did you know before taking Spanish at ECMS? What have you accomplished overall and what do you struggle with in general?  What kind of language learner are you?  How do you learn Spanish best?  What makes it difficult for you?  What are your goals for Spanish 2?  Remember that your teacher, parents, and future Spanish 2 teacher may view this project!

Hablar

First, write a paragraph in English about how you have met standard in Speaking or what you are still struggling with.

Then record yourself speaking Spanish to prove your abilities.  Make sure to include a variety of vocabulary words and grammar from Spanish 1B (starting with chapter 5A). Prove you have mastered it all!  You are welcome to use a script, but try to make eye contact with the camera, too.  Your script should be your own original work and must not have been edited by friends, a translator, nor the teacher. The ideas in your script should all connect or flow somehow, don't just say random sentences that have nothing to do with each other.  You may want to talk about a vacation you took or things that you did during the school year.  Have fun with it!  Your recording should be at least 2 minutes long.

-->It's OK if you edit your video clips to make one final video using something like MovieMaker but don't get carried away with special effects and silly pictures - we should see YOU talking in the video just like the sample above.  Need MovieMaker? Download it for free.

-->To record yourself you can use a digital camera or your phone and then get your video file off the device and upload it as a movie.  OR you can use MovieMaker and your webcam - on the Home tab just click Webcam Video, then record it and hit stop when done.  It'll prompt you to save the file, so remember where you save it.  If you aren't going to edit it, you can just quit the program now and upload that saved video file to tackk.com.

If you want to record more clips and edit, just do it right there in MovieMaker. If you edit the clips, make sure to do the final "publishing" step --> On the Home tab's right side click "Save Movie..." then select "for computer" (see image below). This is the published file you will upload to tackk.com.

Escribir

You should have an introduction paragraph in English explaining how you have met standard (or not) before you show the evidence. Introduce each artifact just like you would for an SLC presentation. As evidence, paste in some text that you have written.  Make sure they cover a variety of vocabulary and grammar that we have learned to prove you have mastered it all.  Include pictures of your original work to help (assignments, test sections, projects) or paste in your text.

*If you aren't meeting standard, make sure to talk about that as well - don't just provide the one sample where you did meet standard and lie.  Be honest!

-->To show a Word document or PowerPoint, I recommend you upload it to drive.google.com.  Once there, right click the document, click Share, and click "Get shareable link".  Then on tacck.com you can add a Button and put your documents' URL as the link. (See sample blue button to Maddie's work below).

If you prefer to show your work as an image, you can do a screen shot. On a Windows computer open the start menu and type "Snipping Tool". Have your document open and use this tool to select the part of your document you want to save as a picture. Then upload the picture into tacck.com as a "Photo" element. I have provided a sample of a "snipped" Word doc as a photo below, although yours should not be written work in English, rather SPANISH.

Leer y escuchar

This is a harder one to show...Write a paragraph for the Leer y Escuchar standard in English talking about your strengths and weaknesses, backing it up with evidence.

-->  Take pictures of some of your worksheets, tests, or Communication workbook pages to prove you have met standard here.  Upload them as photos.  Make sure your photos have your work in them and corrections (so we can tell what you got right and wrong) and aren't just blank workbook pages like my example.  Introduce each artifact just like you would for an SLC presentation.

*If you aren't meeting standard, make sure to talk about that as well - don't just provide the one sample where you did meet standard and lie. Be honest!

Cultura

In English, write a couple paragraphs telling your strengths, weaknesses, and accomplishments for this standard.  What was taught or studied in class?  Also, what did you do for your Oportunidades Culturales?  Overall, what did you learn this year?  Reflect on the importance of this standard, too.  What does it mean to you to learn about the cultures?  Does it interest you?  What interests you more?  What do you hope to learn or experience in future years as you continue to study Spanish? Find some pictures relating to what you studied this year for culture and add them here to spruce up this section.

*If you aren't meeting standard, make sure to talk about that as well - don't just provide the one sample where you did meet standard and lie. Be honest!
