Diary Entry

Standards: HSS: 3.2 Students pose relevant questions about events they encounter in historical documents, eyewitness accounts, oral histories, letters, diaries, artifacts, photographs, maps, artworks, and architecture.   

Objective: Students will create a list of 10 question that they would ask Patience Whipple, if she was still alive, about her experience on the Mayflower.  Students will also develop a fictional character and write diary entry about them moving to a new world.

What students will do: Students will spend a week reading Patience Whipple's diary. Once students are done reading, they will develop questions they would ask Patience Whipple, if she was alive today, about her experience on the Mayflower. Also students will have the opportunity to create a fictional character  about them moving to a new place. They will also develop a five sentence diary entry about their experiences and how they felt about moving to a new place.
