Mrs. Loring's 2nd Grade News
March 25, 2015
Tomorrow is Line Creek's first Leadership Day. We will be hosting visitors from the Park Hill School District as well as various guests from other school districts. Please remember to send your child to school in their lime green Line Creek shirt. If they do not have one of these shirts, any green shirt will work. We're excited for our class to talk with the guests about the great student leaders that we are!
Don't forget that this Friday is Spring Picture Day. All pictures will go home with students and then you may choose which to buy. If you would like to fill out the form for "special instructions" that went home before break, please do so and send it with your child on Friday.
Grade cards came home with students today. Please be sure to read the grade card, sign, stamp, and address the envelope and return it to school by Monday along with the purple enrollment form that is enclosed in the envelope. Let me know if you have any questions about any of the information you receive.
Lunch Bag Book Report
On Monday, your child brought home a pink sheet explaining an assignment for this quarter. The students will be completing a "Lunch Bag Book Report" at home about a book that they read throughout the quarter. I will provide them with the supplies once they finish reading their book. This assignment is due May 12th. I will attach the flier to this email, in case any have been misplaced. Please note that because of this reading assignment, we will not be completing Book Buck Bulletins this quarter.
Terra Nova Testing Letter
Your child also brought home a note and envelope earlier this week regarding Terra Nova Testing. Please write your child a letter of encouragement, put it back in the envelope provided and have them bring it to me. I will place the envelope on their desk one day during testing as a motivating surprise for them. We will be taking the Terra Nova assessment April 14th-17th. I would appreciate having your letters back the Friday prior to the testing week.
Front Row Ed
Has your child mentioned a new, educational math program that we've been using at school? We've recently learned about a website called Front Row Ed that provides math lessons and games specific to each child's learning level. Check out www.frontrowed.com and use our class code jvlla2 to have your child gain some extra math practice at home.
