This is Joseph John Thomson. He discovered the Electron in 1897. Plus    he invented the plum pudding model.

The Fascinating J.J Thomson

Joseph was born in 1856 in England and after 84 years of science stuff he passed in 1940. When he was only 16 his father passed. He later attended Owens college. He was 41 when he started working on the Electron.  Nine years later he won a Nobel prize. Then knighthood  in 08.
