Nelson Mandela was born on July 18, 1918 in South Africa.
In 1925 Mandela attended a primary school for his education and this is where he receives the name "Nelson" from a teacher.
Nelson Mandela became enrolled in the Clarkebury Boarding Institute.
Nelson attended the Wesleyan College at Fort Beaufort.
He was expelled from the college in 1940.
Escapes an arranged marriage and becomes a mine night watchman.
Nelson completes his BA through the University of South Africa. Began to include himself in the ANC (African National Congres).
Graduates with a BA from Fort Hare and then enrolled for an LLB at Wits University.
Co-founded the ANC Youth League (ANCYL) He married Evelyn Ntoko Mase
Mandela was elected national secretary of the ANCYL
Mandela becomes president of South Africa
Defiance Campaign begins.
He was arrested and charged for violating the Suppression of Communism Act.
Elected Transvaal ANC President.
South Africa's first black law firm with Oliver Tambo was opened.
March 21, 1960- the Sharpeville Massacre occurred.
March 30th, 1960
A State of Emergency imposed.
April 8th, 1960
The ANC is banned.
May 27th, 1963
Mandela was sent to Robben Island and returned June 12th to Pretoria Local Prison.
Nelson continued to inspire, travel, and meet people. He fought for the freedom and rights of the South Africans.

Nelson spent his 95th birthday in the hospital.
December 5th, 2013
Nelson Mandela died from sickness.
Although Mandela has passed he will never fade from our memories, careers, inspirations, and thoughts.
