Elias Howe, credited as the inventor of the sewing machine, designed and patented his creation in 1846. The sewing machine was developed through hundreds of years. Many people had attempted to design a sewing machine but, Howe was the most successful. It solved the problem of hand sewing. Women could now sew more clothing a lot quicker. The sewing machine made life better because more people could have nicer clothes and more clothes to work in. Today, people don't use the sewing machine much anymore. If people would like they may sew their own clothes. It created problems with people then and now who could not make clothes. They would have to learn and some people didn't want them to learn. People had problems with earning money.
