Katia and Mel are trying to raise money for a charity. Each of them will buy the candy for an initial cost of 2$ per pound. Katia is going to buy candy from M&M and sell each pound of candy for $3 a pound. Mel is going to buy Sugarfina and sell it for $6 a pound. They must raise at least $900.

"what's the least amount of pounds of M&Ms and Sugarfina each GIRL needS to sell IN ORDER to satisfy the constraints?"

x = M&Ms         y = Sugarfina

3x+6y > 900                 y >100

Solving the Problem - Graph

1. Graph both inequalities on a grid and shade the intersection                                               3x+6y >900

The x intercept is: 3x+6(0) = 900                                                                                                                 3x = 900                                                                                                                                                    3         3                                                                                                                                                      x=300

The y intercept is: 3(0) + 6y = 900                                                                                                                 6y = 900                                                                                                                                                    6         6                                                                                                                                                     y = 150

IN my Graph you'll notice they meet at (100,100) and the other top of the "triangle" is at (0,150). From this data, we know that Mel must sell more than 150 pounds of Sugarfina and Katia must sell more than 100 pounds of M&Ms in order to sell more than $900 combined and for Mel to sell at least 100 pounds.
